Three Easy Tips for Beautiful Skin

Everyone wants beautiful skin, but sometimes it’s hard to know what tips to trust and use! The Handmade Beauty Box team put their brains together to share with you their three favorite tips for keeping your skin looking  #Flawless. So sit back, sip on some water (see tip #3) and give your skin the love it needs.

Tip # 1: Exfoliate

This DIY face scrub recipe is so simple and easy, that you can create it right in your own kitchen. All you need is: Brown Sugar, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Honey, medium mixing bowl, and a spatula. Check out our blog post on how to get glowing healthy skin, while using ingredients right from your kitchen!

Tip # 2: Oil Cleansers

We found this awesome tip on the Soap Queen blog and we absolutely love it! What? You wash your face with oil? Oil cleansers work well with any skin type and we love that it’s all natural. Here’s the Soap Queen’s explanation: “Skin produces sebum from glands called the sebaceous glands. Sebum is an oily, waxy matter that is crucial to healthy skin. It protects the skin from bacteria and helps maintain a balance of water within the skin. Too much sebum can lead to breakouts, and not enough sebum can cause dry skin. Sometimes, when the skin is stripped of sebum from harsh cleansers, the skin can go into sebum-production overdrive. The excess sebum can lead to whiteheads, blackheads and acne. The idea behind oil cleansing is that it dissolves and washes away the sebum produced naturally by your skin, and replaces it with new “clean” oil. This leaves skin balanced, and does not cause skin to overproduce sebum.” Oil cleansing can easily fit into your everyday beauty routine (making one of the recipes only takes 15 minutes!), while also benefiting your skin immensely.

This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s extremely important especially with this summer heat wave we’re in. The first step to having beautiful and healthy skin is taking the proper measures to protect it, that means focusing on both the inside and outside of your body. Being hydrated allows your body to function efficiently, help cleanse any toxins from your skin, and protect your skin from letting in external particles that can cause irritations and blemishes.

We know that drinking the recommended eight glasses of water a day can be challenging, so here’s a few of our favorite ways to make our daily quota:
1.) Drink Tea
2.) Make your own fruit-infused water
3.) Use liquid water enhancers
4.) Invest in a water bottle that you’ll actually use
5.) Use a straw while drinking
