Marbled Mug tutorial from Handmade Beauty Box.ONE: Fill the disposable pan with 2-3 inches of room temperature water. While many tutorials say to use warm water, we found that cold/room temperature water had the best results with our nail polish base.

TWO: Pour the nail polish onto the surface of water. Start out with a little, and add more depending on how much color you would like on your mug. The nail polish will look like it’s sinking to the bottom of the pan. Don’t panic. A very light hue of the nail polish color will be floating on the surface of the water.

pouring nail polishTHREE: This next step is key and you must move quickly so the nail polish doesn’t “set” on top of the water. If it does “set,” there’s potential of a gooey mess. Dip the mug into the water to create the marble coloring. If you’d like, you can dip the mug twice. If you want to add more than one color, do so immediately after the first mug dunk.

Dipping MugTIP: If you want to use a new color on a new mug then the repeat steps 1-3, using clean water.

FOUR: Place your finished mugs on a protected surface (like wax paper) to dry overnight.

TIP: Once mugs are completely dry you can add a thin coat of dishwasher safe Mod Podge to protect your beautiful creation. While the Mod Podge technically is dishwasher safe, we still recommend hand washing only.
