Instructions

ONE  Create a bronzing base by mixing 2 teaspoons of Titanium Dioxide, ¼ teaspoon of Tapioca Starch, and 1 teaspoon of Honeyed Beige Mica (use less Honeyed Beige Mica for a lighter base if needed). Mix the powders together in a small bowl, mug, or the large jars that come in your Handmade Beauty Box. Fully mix with a spoon until clumps seem to be fully dispersed.

TIP: We like to mix the powders together in the jars by putting the cap on and shaking. Then continue mixing by smashing the powders onto the bottom of the jar with a spoon. If you need a little more mixing room, use the same “spoon/smash” technique in a small bowl or mug. If you want to take it a step further you can use a coffee grinder or spice grinder to really mix up the powders nicely. If the bronzer powders are not fully mixed together it could result in streaking when applied.

TWO Now that you have your base completed, add your preferred colorant(s) – for a deep bronze, use the Brown Oxide or Cappuccino Mica. For a more olive/yellow undertone use the Honeyed Beige Mica. To achieve a warm/rose undertone use the Burgundy Oxide. Keep adding colorant until you’ve reached your desired color. If the hue seems too dark you can always add more titanium dioxide to lighten it back up.Create your own custom shade of brozer to fight your unique skin tone!

THREE To test the hue, match the bronzer to the darkest part of your body for a natural tone, usually tops of the shoulders or chest. Look at the color in the sunlight and adjust the colors as necessary.

FOUR Remove the clear sifter screen from a small sifter jar and transfer the bronzer base into the clear container. Pop the sifter screen and lid onto the clear jar.

INGREDIENTS: Titanium Dioxide and Tapioca Starch should always be in your recipe. Titanium Dioxide dilutes the micas so you’re not putting the potent colorant directly on your face. Tapioca Starch is a very fine powder that gives you that nice slide when you apply the bronzer. It also has oil absorbing properties. The Cappuccino Mica and Honeyed Beige Mica both have a subtle shimmer while the Brown Oxide and Burgundy Oxide both have a matte finish. The choice is yours. You can also make blush, eye shadow, and contouring/highlighting powders with these micas and oxides. Click here for more recipes!

To Use: If you’re using the larger mixing container, dip the tip of the brush into the bronzer and transfer the bronzer to the lid. This will ensure that you don’t get too much bronzer on your brush before application. If you’re using the small sifter container, gently shake the container so some of the bronzer comes up through the sifter screen, then dip the brush into the bronzer. Use the brush to apply to your entire face for an all over sun-kissed look or highlight your chin, cheeks, nose and forehead like the image above. Remember to blend, blend, blend!
