Breast Cancer Awareness Donation

Remember our awesome pink salt scrub project supporting Breast Cancer Awareness back in October? We know, that seems like a long time ago to us too. To refresh your memory, we partnered with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and their special cancer and drug research program called Project Violet. Sales from every October box sold was donated to Project Violet for a grand total of $10,000 towards the non-profit! For more details about the organization you can read October’s blog posts here, here, and here.

We got to tour the research lab. Is that Iron Man in the background?

We wanted to hand-deliver the check to the Fred Hutch team ourselves so we loaded up the car with an over-sized check (that was so fun to design), Handmade Beauty Boxes, laptops, and healthy snacks. Then we blasted the Christmas music and we were off to Seattle. We had an amazing time meeting the research team and touring the Fred Hutch facility. The beautiful building is on Lake Union so you can’t beat the view of the water and the Space Needle and every single wall is covered with inspirational art from the local art institute.

Handmade Beauty Box delivers a giant check to Fred Hutch!

Courtney (left) and Anne-Marie (right) handed off the giant check to Fred Hutch researcher, Shannon (middle). Shannon joked that she’ll think of Handmade Beauty Box every time she purifies proteins. We feel honored!

This donation was all because of YOU, our wonderful subscribers. We feel so fortunate to be able to make this donation to a great cause and connect with our subscribers on such a personal level. Giving feels so good!

P.S. There are still a handful of Salt Scrub kits left so get them while you can. It’s a pretty amazing salt scrub recipe if we do say so ourselves =)
