We’re half way through July, which means you’ve probably done your fair share of running around barefoot and/or wearing cute sandals. It’s time to take a moment and give your feet the break they need. Grab July’s Handmade Beauty Box, make your 100% natural foot balm, and spoil yourself (and your toes) a little.
TIME: 20 MINUTES
YIELDS: 4 FOOT BALMS
Handmade Beauty Box Includes
6 oz Avocado Butter
4 oz Fractionated Coconut Oil
4 oz Sweet Almond Oil
2 oz Yellow Beeswax
6 ml Grapefruit Essential Oil
4 Jars and Lids
Finished Labels (located in the bottom)
What You’ll Need from Home
1 Small Heat Safe Container
Old (clean) Socks
ONE: In a small heat-safe container, combine the Avocado Butter, Fractionated Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, and Yellow Beeswax. Melt ingredients in the microwave on 30-second bursts, stirring in between, until fully melted. Use paper towels or a hot pad when taking the container out of the microwave, it will be hot!
TIP: Depending on the strength of your microwave it should only take 60-90 seconds. If there are still a few yellow chunks of beeswax, stir until fully incorporated. We don’t want the oils to get too hot.
TWO: Once the ingredients are fully melted, add 6ml of Grapefruit Essential Oil and stir well.
THREE: Slowly and carefully pour the melted mixture into the 4 oz jars and let cool for 1-2 hours with the lids off (you’ll get condensation if you add the lids while the mixture is still warm).
TIP: If you want a softer foot balm consistency, leave out some of the yellow beeswax or add an extra liquid oil. Do you want a harder foot balm consistency? Leave out some of the Sweet Almond or Fractionated Coconut Oil. To test the consistency of the foot balm before pouring into the jars, freeze your spoons for 1–2 hours. Dip the tip of the chilled spoon into the liquid mixture. The balm will instantly harden on the tip of the spoon so you can test the consistency and adjust the recipe as needed.
To Use: For a deep moisturizing foot session, apply the balm liberally to your toes and heels, put on an old pair of clean socks and go to bed. Your feet will be so soft and smooth in the morning!
